Upcoming Webinar – Innovative teaching and learning practices in sustainable education

This month’s HEInnovate webinar “Innovative teaching and learning practices in sustainable education” will take place on Thursday, the 28th September at 5pm CET.

This webinar will explore the concepts of sustainability education from the perspective of educators who are adopting novel methods, strategies, and processes in teaching to meet the complex sustainability challenges faced in the 21st century.

The webinar will be moderated by Rebecca Allinson, Managing Partner at Technopolis, who will be in conversation with Dr Rita Klapper and Dr Andreas Zitek:  

  • Dr Rita Klapper is (Associate) Research Professor at Idrac Business School, Lyon, France; and Visiting Professor in the research centre Integrated Research on Energy, Environment and Society (IREES) at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. She has held various research and teaching positions, e.g. as Reader in Enterprise and Sustainability at Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, UK; Associate Prof at Rouen Business School/Neoma, France; the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University; and Manchester Business School, UK. Rita specialises in innovations in pedagogy applying art, music, theatre, visualisation exercises, story-telling and kundalini yoga in her courses. She takes a practitioner-oriented, insider-focused approach.  Rita delivers teacher training workshops and also works as Executive Coach and Mentor.
  • Dr Andreas Zitek MSc(GIS) holds a PhD in landscape architecture and planning and works as an e-Learning Innovator and Learning Experience Designer at the Teaching and Learning Services, Division of E-Learning and Didactics at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). Andreas has recently coordinated an Erasmus+ strategic partnership on sustainable entrepreneurship education (INTRINSIC – Innovative Education for Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Life Sciences) and was also involved in several other projects aimed at the development and evaluation of new and innovative teaching and learning approaches. Andreas is a lecturer at BOKU, developing, applying and evaluating innovative Blended Learning activities and course modules, especially related to scientific writing and qualitative systems modelling. His current interest is on the systematic development and evaluation of the mind-set and competences associated with sustainable entrepreneurship in Life Science students.
