This month’s HEInnovate webinar “User stories from the EIT HEI Capacity Building Initiative” will take place on Thursday, 25th May at 5pm CEST.

In this webinar, we will explore the objectives and the results of this initiative so far. In addition, we will hear from HEInnovate first-hand users about their institution’s experience with the self-assessment tool and the results achieved.

The webinar will be moderated by Rebecca Allinson, Managing Partner at Technopolis Group and it will engage:

• Dr. Dolores Volkert, Head of HEI Capacity Building Initiative for the EIT RawMaterials (Berlin, Germany). Dr Dolores Volkert leads on strategic and operational activities of the initiative, focusing on establishing an ecosystem of cross-institutional alliances and synergies. Prior to the HEI Initiative, Dolores Volkert served in senior strategy roles managing cross-functional initiatives within higher education and research institutions both in North America and Germany. With a legal background, her experience spans from establishing strategic innovation and entrepreneurship programs to technology transfer.
• Dr. Tamer Abu-Alam, Assistant Professor of Sustainability Analytics at the Department of Arctic and Marine Biology at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. He is project coordinator and PI for several EU-funded projects (incl. CloudEARTHi, Inspiring the Minds, SEEDplus). He utilises his expertise in big data, sustainability analytics, and footprint analytics to develop green shift and blue growth scenarios, supporting the transition to a more sustainable and resilient future. Tamer is also committed to building innovation capacity at higher education institutes using big data to address societal challenges. Tamer has held various research and teaching positions; published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and presented in over 50 conferences. He is editor-in-chief of the Lithosphere and the information officer of the Geological Society of Africa.
• Dr. Claudio Cruz Cázares, Director of StartUB! which aims to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and helps students develop and launch their start-ups. It offers different training programs, mentoring and access to funds. Claudio is also Associate Professor at the Department of Business Economics and Management of the University of Barcelona. He obtained his PhD at the Business Economics Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. His research interests are in the field of innovation strategies and open innovation, and he has published in several international journals and has presented his research in several conferences. He is also leading research projects for the Government of Spain (i.e. FECYT) and the European Commission (i.e. EIT Health and EURIS).
