Being, or becoming, an innovative/entrepreneurial higher education institution (HEI); facilitating change in higher education – an event to ignite, inspire, innovate!

We want to address questions like: "Why should HEIs become innovative and entrepreneurial? What does it mean to become an innovative and entrepreneurial HEI? How to become an innovative and entrepreneurial HEI?"

There is no "unique" approach, but a variety of ways in which HEIs behave entrepreneurially, i.e. how they manage resources and build organisational capacity, involve external stakeholders into their leadership and governance, create and nurture synergies between teaching, research and their societal engagement, and how they promote entrepreneurship through education and business start-up support as well as knowledge exchange to enhance the innovation capacity of existing firms.

We want to show and discuss how HEInnovate (www.heinnovate.eu) can help HEIs to bring about institutional change and to support them in their journey to develop their entrepreneurial potential. We will also explore how countries can use HEInnovate to support the development of national HE systems that provide a supportive environment for innovative/entrepreneurial HEIs.

The event will showcase some of the innovative practices and solutions that exist, help participants identify and narrow down the problems or particular issues they are facing in their HEI; connect people and encourage networking for mutual exchange and support; helping people identify points for action after using the tool and how to go about taking action.

The event is for staff from higher education institutions (management, administration, academics, students), for people from organisations that are working with higher education institutions and for representatives from ministries responsible for of higher education.

The event will be interactive and dynamic; it will feature plenary and breakout sessions, and provide a lot of space and opportunity for networking, exchange and mutual learning.
